+ WHAT IS EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a revolutionary mental health therapy developed by psychologist Dr Francine Shapiro in the 1990s. By stimulating eye movement, EMDR helps you access traumatic memories that have not been properly processed.
AN ACCIDENTAL DISCOVERY
Dr Shapiro discovered the connection between eye movement and memory processing by accident.
While out
walking one day, she noticed her eyes moving rapidly when she was thinking disturbing
thoughts.
Experimenting with stimulating eye movement, she amazingly began to feel calmer almost
instantly.
Later, she tested this with PTSD patients. They too experienced rapid decrease in emotional

Thus, EMDR was born.
